Freddy

Trying to work out how the Radeon naming scheme works, due to this review :

http://casualstrolltomordor.com/2010/03/lotro-eyefinity-and-you/

He's using a HIS 5850

I have a Sapphire HD 6870

So one generation on (6>5) if that's right.

My card should walk it then I hope, or is that wishful thinking ?

Data

The important number on these cards is the 850, 870 and 890 on the end of the number

850 is good

870 is very good

890 is the dogs bollox.

The 4, 5, 6 and 7 at the front of the number is the chipset type basically what shaders and direct x it supports.

This is why my old HD4890 is still running the latest games, no it can't  do direct x 11 but its still fast.

Freddy your card will walk it :)

Freddy

Oh good, that's a refreshing change then.  Thanks matey

BTW, they should use your terms on the box, then we would all know  ;D

I can see it now:

Radeon 8690 - Rated "The Dog's Bollux"

But this one is the dog's bollox, bee's knees and wasp's elbows.

Wow expensive card, one could say the cat's pajamas  :D

Data

I had to laugh at that expensive card

Minimum System Power requirement (W) - 850W

I wouldn't get it on principle even if money was no object.

Freddy

Looks nice, practically the same as mine and for less

243 in stock, so plenty of time to decide :)

DaveMorton

Newegg.com shows that card as Discontinued and out of stock, so not something I could do, I'm afraid.
