A $15m computer that uses "quantum physics" effects to boost its speed is to be installed at a Nasa facility.

It will be shared by Google, Nasa, and other scientists, providing access to a machine said to be up to 3,600 times faster than conventional computers.

Data, do you think this would be any good for my requirements, gaming, general computer stuff etc. If so, once the cost comes down a little, do you think you could knock one together for me ?.

What OS though, 7 or 8, which do you think.  :scratch-head:
It WILL be fine !...

Data

I'm not sure that it's actually fast enough for some of the latest games, it's only 3,600 times faster than a desktop PC, I think we should hold fire until it's about 6000 times faster, then it should be up to good old ping pong gaming level of performance.

I would recommend win 7 or 8.1, do not under any circumstances attempt to run it in win 8  ;D

Interesting read there Freddy

Given that I have only recently been getting into F1 and enjoying the experience and I don't wish to spoil that, I will once again bow to your superior knowledge Data.  :worship:

Thank-you my friend.  :hats-off:
It WILL be fine !...

Interesting. I thought the best quantum computers were about 6-8 qubits and very unreliable.

This one's a 512 qubit. And reliable within it's remit.

*Diesel, if you get one of these, it would work as a beer cooler too. Two jobs for the price of one, and a snip at only $15M.

Just remember to open said beer a VERY long way away from the $15m computer please  :D

that would make a great flight simulator  :P

FOr an OS, I'd recommend either Debian or Ubuntu, as I'm sorely disillusioned by the Redmond Pirates these days. Or, better yet, let's find some disgruntled M$ employees and build our own OS. We'll base it off 98SE, give it 64 bit support, and have the world's fastest OS. :D :P

I'm totally with you Dave, whatever is was you suggested.  :scratch-head:

Dave we could even give it a simple futuristic chrome and call it Jarvis  ;)
