As this is the only next gen game I have so far I thought I would check out it's CPU usage, see how many cores it uses and to what extent. It's an interesting result.

The games uses one CPU core that sits at around 70 to 90% usage in game, the other 3 cores do very little if nothing at all.

Make of that as you will.

The GPU however is absolutely being maxed out.

This is the same for me in LOTRO on the more densely decorated high end areas. I'd like to know if it totally dedicates the single core to the game and if it shifts other tasks to other cores. I do see my other cores being used so maybe that's what is happening.

Data

I know that with AMD cards, a lot of game engines use the other cores for physics.

Where as an Nvidia card has another system that uses the GPU.

I've finished the main story line quest in the game, could still go back and explore the world if I wish.

Final thoughts:

A stunningly beautiful game with improved physics and pretty impressive dynamic weather. It's quite hard to sum it all up but you can tell this game has broken some old ways of doing things and has moved us into next gen.

It's also worth noting that I did have to fight this game in places, it has an annoying bug where it can eat your game saves, also one of the missions was broken and I had to force a fix and then there is the Uplay software that you have to run for this game, to my mind it was pretty awful, they should just use Steam like most of game makers.

But I still give it 8.5 out of 10  8)

I haven't played LOTRO for a few weeks, been doing some programming instead for a change. I've completed LOTRO at this point, so not much to do there at the moment.
