Found this interesting video on the differences between HDDs and SSDs when erasing files.

Looks like Intel will be shipping their new chips early next year. Was thinking of building a new PC for Xmas but I'm wondering on whether to wait now. Seeing as the Haswell chip was only a small step.
The new chip will be 14nm and 30% power reduction. All looking good.
They're also bringing out a cut down core in 14nm called Quark.
