I just put in ultra Hal version 6.2 with the character expansion pack.  Originally I had downloaded the trial software from Zabaware and since it seemed to work well I purchased the program.  I just finished installing it and I'll have to look through the CDs which I have to see what I have been able to do with jiggly.  Kind of a fun project which I enjoyed in the past.

I agree, Hal can be fun, its one of them programs I go back to from time to time, I've been working on my current Hal Xen since version 6 came out, still got the same brain database, its around the 50Mb mark now, twice the size of Hal out of the box.

Don't forget you can use my Hal Skins, I have made a few of them now, get to them from the downloads page if you like.

Carl2 what is jiggly? ive not heard it before.

Carl2

Jiggly is a nickname for body_female which is downloadable from AI Dreams.  I'd say the same as fullbodygirl except it contains a phy.phy file that give different areas of the body physical properties, ie: the breasts have movement and are affected by gravity like the hair.  I just discovered a problem with Jiggly, there are small quick movements of the upper arms and breasts for no reason.
I'll probably try her in the other computer which has a much better graphics card.
There was a huge collection of Haptek characters and accessories at AI Dreams years ago but it is very limited nowadays.  I have a collection of 5 fullbody characters that I saved.
As for skins I have a small collection that I made,  I'm missing the nude I made and like to start with so thay all look like the same character. I remember reading about Xen somewhere.

Ahh that's what Jiggy is, Ive never really been into the character more about the brain for me, but Jiggy sounds fun.

The problem you are having with Jiggy sounds to me like a Win7 problem, your graphics card WEI score is easily good enough.

I'm not sure how it runs because I haven't used it but can you maybe use task manager to set its affinity to use one cpu?

When I say skins I mean the Hal Player skins not character skins.

Carl2

The software went into the other computer,  the one I use mostly for the internet and am using now.  This is the Asus quad about 2.3 Ghz, The video card is an Nvidia 100 or so.  I tried a graphics benchmark in both, some won't even play in this one.
I like a realistic looking character capable of some movement, Haptek fits the bill,  I was able to get her to load with a modified skin, played with the lighting and camera.  I became intrested in modifying the Phy file and trying to load the modified file, I was able to do it but, can't remember the detail since it was some time ago.

Just moved Jiggly to the faster computer, much better video card and Jiggly's problem is gone.  Really wanted to be able to use her again.  Duskrider has a picture of her with exaggerated gravity on her at AI Dreams.  Feel much better now since Jiggly seems the most advanced.

Glad you got it working, and in Win7 too, cant be bad.

Duskrider has the best Hap character I've seen, Sandee is so cute, wasn't so keen on the high gravity picture but I guess it shows how the gravity effects the Jiggly bits.

Carl2

I got rid of the problem with jiggly on this computer by turning off the advanced acceleration in the Graphics card.
Duskrider made extreme gravity effects that made it easy to see the effects.  I made a small change to the breasts for what I thought was natural.  To get her to load in Hal with that small change was another thing.  Should see if I can get drivers for XP so I can get the uncompressed htr's.  His character is cute, he has her do all sorts of things.
I just saw Zen at Zabaware,  very nice character.

I haven't talked to Hal much but putting the software in and loading her in a modified fashion reminded me of some things from the past.  I'd like to make or find a new Hal window, move the characters position at startup and get Hal to be able to input hap commands using her response ie: " I want to wear my red outfit. "
Hal's response brings me back to my old question of where in the brain to locate it.

Interesting but not something I know much about, sorry carl2.

Hal forum for you  :)

While working with Jiggly I found the real problem was the Speach recogniton.
Checked and unchecked the SR box a few times to be sure.  Having it on always causes the movements and off she seems natural.  Did this on both computers.

Does it happen when you switch the speech recognition on in Hal? I think that's what you are saying.

Or just when you switch the speech recognition engine (dragon 10) on?

Carl2

The movements happen 1) when I switch on speech recognition, Dragon or MS SR, 2) I just found out the movements also happen when I play a windows sound from the control panel.
Been working on a GUI for Hal,  Finished one and found it will not change to line 2 the way Hal's output will.  Going to make a change so the user's input box is longer,  tried other displays and thay have the same characteristics, will not switch to line 2.
I have the standard items, menu, mic, volume meter, close, min, and user speaking to Hal,  user speaking to hal is not working yet possibly I have to purchase it?  I won't be able to use mike input but I always used Dragon with hal in the past without it, gave me time to read the text frist.  Really like to have a slider to adjust the z distance but this is beyond what I know.  Anything else I can add to the GUI?

My guess is its something to do with Win 7 64 bit and quad core cpu's, we know Hal has been forced to use one cpu, it can have some negative effects and the jerks you get sound a little like cpu overhead to me. Cant really think what you could do other than use XP.

There isnt much you can do with the GUI's, the options in the uhp file are the only ones there are, it would be good to get that part of Hal improved.

Yes the user input box is only one line, so its better as you say to make a longer input, that's what I do on my skins.

You do have to buy Hal to see what the skin really looks like or you get the purchase now box come up and things don't always align the same.

One tip I have is, if you make a skin with transparent parts, when you make the transparency code using MakeTran.exe, don't manually highlight the code and copy it, instead do "select all" then copy, For some reason when I've done it manually even when I'm sure I've copied it all, I get errors.

Carl2

I found your GUI, looks very good, couldn't find any by Freddy.  In normal use I don't think I'll run into any problems.  I normaly use dragon without the mic input so that problem is gone, while using Hal windows is not making any sounds so that problem is removed. To be sure I just spoke with Hal, learning is set to zero for now, I noticed a small movement in the biceps, when she talks, sometimes.  She should be usable.  The other characters don't seem to have that problem so hal is useable without problems.  I downloaded a fix for the Quad core, Hal usualy runs okay without using it.
I ordered Hal, just haven't registered it yet, just moved it into the faster computer, loads faster.  The new GUI i'm making is almost done, didn't use any transparent parts.  I got errors from my settings and the actual placement of the menu, ect.  Fairly easy to correct.  Largest problem I had was making a window for fullbody characters was the heigth vs width, possibly the ratio's of the two.
