Freddy

Hehe Google is cheating GT40 - I think you need to read the rules again  ;)

Data, nothing to tell.  I was actually thinking of the far better Walker Brothers version. I am simply a big fan of Scott Walker and I scanned through my YoutTube playlist to get some ideas on what to pick.

Data

I'm glad there is nothing to worry about then Freddy, just for a second I thought you might be feeling depressed.

@GT
l'aide de Google, c'est tricher, mais au moins vous ne l'admettent  :D

I guess its your go then GT

GT40

Les sirènes du port d'Alexandrie
Chantent encore la même mélodie ohoh
La lumière du phare d'Alexandrie
Fait naufrager les papillons de ma jeunesse

The rules, oh yes the rules...
One day, I will take the time to read them.  ;D

Snowcrash

Arrg, this is my translation...

The sirens of Port Alexandria,
Repeat the chant 'meme' melody,
The light of 'phare' Alexandria,
something about butterflies??

Now to google, Doh! Them rules they hurt when it's not your first language.
"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

GT40

Yes, not easy for non-French people. This singer was a big idol here, but unknown outside.

Just a little help: the name of the city (in the lyrics) is in the title. Good luck!  ;D

Data

Well it looks like no one is going to get this song.

GT can we Google now?

GT40

Snowcrash

Google translate...

The sirens of the port of Alexandria,
Still singing the same melody,
Light from the Lighthouse of Alexandria,
Wrecked the butterflies of my youth. (this must be a French statement)

"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Data

Well done Snowy

Somehow I think GT might have been expecting a video of the singer performing the song.

So for GT's eyes only  ;)

Diesel

Was that Vid from a Holiday Camp ?.

Nice pick GT40, I wonder why he never caught on over here. :scratch-head:
It WILL be fine !...

GT40

Congratulations, Snowcrash. And thanks for the video, Data. Yes Diesel, he was ready to conquer the world when he died in a stupid accident (electrocution) in 1978. Something like a national catastrophe...

He was very intelligent: men didn't like the singer, but at least, they were in love with the dancers. ;)

Snowcrash

Thanks GT40. I could never have got it without google's help.

Back to the 80s for this one I think.

I've got your picture, of me and you
You wrote "I love you", I wrote "me too"

I am being fairly obscure with the lyrics as I expect everyone to get it on the chorus.
"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Diesel

A little easy this one for me, dates back to the early 80's, Turning Japanese by The Vapors

Top draw pick Snowcrash. ;D
It WILL be fine !...

Snowcrash

Thought that one might have lated more than 1/2 an hour.

Oh well. What treats do you have for us Diesel?
"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Diesel

Way back to the seventies here.

Four and Twenty Black Birds sing along
Royal Gifts they all will bring.

Given that this was one Hell of a long time ago, these two lines are from the chorus.

Good hunting. :P
It WILL be fine !...
