Way back to the seventies here.

Four and Twenty Black Birds sing along
Royal Gifts they all will bring.

Given that this was one Hell of a long time ago, these two lines are from the chorus.

Good hunting. :P

Hmm Im sure I know these lyrics, they ring a bell, but can't pull it from my brain.

Not giving up yet though.

DaveMorton

That's not even ringing a bell from the next village over, I'm afraid. Well, unless you count old nursery rhymes. :)
Safe, Reliable Insanity, Since 1961!

Snowcrash

I've just googled it and I'm none the wiser.

Not heard of the band or the song. It's from 1971 so I was 4 and it must've gone under my radar. Not that I knew what radar was when I was 4.

Where did you drag this one up from, Diesel?
"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

In the words of that great Sage, Forrest Gump, "Life's like a box of Chocolates, you just don't know what your gunna' git next".
It WILL be fine !...

Diesel

What still no Vid, oh well.

The reason I picked this one?.

Several years ago, I was on holiday at a nice place in Devon, The English Riviera ?, yeah right. Anyway, one of the entertainers, whom was a bit of a fruit cake, announced he was in fact the lead singer from the 70's group White Plains. Who ?, I thought, but once he sang their songs, I thought, Ah yes. So whenever I hear this little number, it takes me back to that Holiday (vacation for the Yanks, nothing personal Yanks). That's all it is.

Another one up for Snowcrash I believe as you did your Homework. (C+, well done)
It WILL be fine !...

Was hoping someone else may jump in.

Oh, well. Here goes...

                I'm not numbed out anymore,
No longer filled with hate and pain.
                No longer trenched in shame,

This is a real song, not a confession  :o

**edited 2 "I'm" s out.

Snowcrash

You'll all remember this song when it comes to the video. I hope.  ???

Next lines are ...

                   I'm not numbed out anymore,
Now I own the key to the door.

You'll also recognise the backing singer.
"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me."

I did know this one before the second clue but left it to see if anyone else could get it.

It would seem not.

Jah Wobble & Sinead O'Connor - Visions of You

Excelent track, unfortunatly not many quality vids of it on YouTube

Diesel

That is the first time I have ever heard that song and I love it, nice one Snowcrash.
It WILL be fine !...

Snowcrash

REALLY!

It's from 1991 and it's one of those songs that make the hairs on my neck stand on end.

Jah Wobble was the basist for Public Image Ltd and then went solo. And lost it judging by some of the music.  :-X

These are his releases, there's several pages.

Freddy

Nice song, very distinctive bass player.

DaveMorton

First I've heard the song, as well. Of course, that's not surprising, being the "Token Yank". :)

Ok, sue me for resurrecting a long dormant thread. :P

        Listen my brothers and sisters,
        Come hear my desperate tale.
I speak of our friends of nature,
trapped in the dirt like a jail.

Have fun and good luck. This one's a bit "off the beaten path". :D

I've looked at this 3 times. I know that I know this song, it's some kind of hippy tune or something like that but I can't put my finger on it.

DaveMorton

As a hint, I've played the song in Random Music Videos at one point. :D
